Affordability

Families are paying more than ever for groceries, gas, housing, and taxes. As a father and small business owner, I live with these pressures every day.

I’ll work to build a strategic approach for growth and investment and push back against disruptive and erratic tariffs that drive up prices and strained trade relationships. I’ll crack down on price gouging and anti-competitive practices, invest in domestic manufacturing and supply chain resilience, and expand public transit to ease household budgets. When families can afford the basics, they can dream bigger—start a business, buy a home, and invest in their children’s future.

Safe, stable, and affordable housing is the foundation for strong families and thriving communities. Yet too many people in our district are struggling with rising rents, limited housing options, and barriers to homeownership. As your representative, I will fight to expand access to affordable housing by increasing federal investment in affordable housing programs to ensure families can find safe, quality homes. I will also strengthen fair housing protections so that discrimination and systemic barriers do not prevent families from securing housing, and support pathways to homeownership through down payment assistance, fair lending practices, and policies that close racial and economic gaps in housing access.

Making these transformations doesn't just involve work in Washington, but also partnering with local governments and community organizations to expand affordable housing stock and preserve existing units.

Housing is more than shelter—it’s about dignity, opportunity, and stability. By making affordable housing a priority, we can help families build wealth, strengthen communities, and ensure that everyone has a fair chance to thrive.
