Gun Violence
Gun Violence
As a survivor of gun violence, I know the traumatic and lasting impact it has on families and communities.
I support strong, evidence-based laws that keep guns out of dangerous hands while respecting responsible ownership. That includes universal background checks, safe storage requirements, closing loopholes around ghost guns and gun shows, banning assault weapons and preventing gun trafficking.
I’ll fight for greater investment in mental health support, and establish community violence intervention systems to prevent tragedies before they happen. In schools, I’ll push for tailored threat assessments, training, and flexible federal funding to implement prevention strategies.
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for American children—it’s a public health emergency, and I’ll treat it like one.
Phil Andrew's Comprehensive National Strategy to End Gun Violence
Policy can save lives. In Congress, I will fight for:
Universal background checks on all gun sales
Reinstating and strengthening the assault weapons ban
National Red Flag law standards
Federal safe storage requirements
A crackdown on ghost guns, trafficking, and illegal sales
Increased investment in gun violence research and community prevention programs
Trauma-informed support for survivors and families
The enforcement of laws that keep guns from domestic abusers and violent offenders
I support strong, evidence-based policies that reduce gun violence, protect families, and respect responsible ownership.
