Anne Roosevelt Endoreses Phil Andrew For Congress On President's Day
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (known as Anne), Board Chair of the Roosevelt Institute, granddaughter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt today announced her support of Democrat Phil Andrew in the crowded race for the (IL-9) Congressional District saying Andrew is the right leader for these times.
“We need leaders like Phil Andrew in the U.S. Congress today. The man-made events of our time and by our leaders are placing a critical burden on our future and the ability for families to be safe, protected and able to afford a standard of living that reflects their hard work and determination. People must be heard and represented by leaders who care more about the future of our democracy and society and less about political and personal gain," Roosevelt said.

Roosevelt said that she has known Andrew for decades and stood with him throughout the trajectory of his life as a gun violence survivor, advocate for violence prevention, and as a special agent and hostage negotiator in the FBI.
“We need to save our democracy and the society that we have all worked so hard to build and maintain. The Ninth District, and this nation is a special place that enables ideas, freedom, innovation, and equality for all. Phil Andrew is the one who is going to stand up and deliver on that promise,” she said.
"I am humbled and honored for the support of Anne Roosevelt," Andrew said. "The Roosevelt family legacy helped guide our nation through a similarly fearful and divided chapter in American and global history. Eleanor Roosevelt demonstrated what moral leadership truly looks like: the pursuit of liberty grounded in compassion, strength guided by empathy, diversity embraced as a source of national strength, and an unwavering commitment to human dignity and equality,” said Andrew.
