Phil Speaks on ICE, Gun Violence Prevention, Foreign Policy at Skokie Candidate Forum
Phil Andrew joined fellow candidates at the Citizen Action Illinois forum in Skokie to share his vision for public safety, healthcare, and peace-building.
"At the October 22nd candidate forum hosted by Citizen Action Illinois at Oakton College, I was proud to stand alongside fellow Democrats running to represent Illinois’ 9th Congressional District. With over a dozen candidates in attendance and a packed room of engaged voters, the evening offered a vital opportunity to share our values and priorities just five months ahead of the primary.
I spoke about my commitment to building peace through trust, vision, and long-term engagement—especially in response to the complex and heartbreaking conflict in Israel and Palestine. I emphasized that real peace takes more than soundbites; it takes leadership willing to do the hard work of diplomacy and reconciliation. On healthcare, I joined many of my fellow candidates in supporting universal access and comprehensive reform. And on gun violence, I reaffirmed my decades-long advocacy for prevention, regulation, and evidence-based solutions that keep families safe.
This forum reflected the energy and urgency of the moment. I’m grateful to Citizen Action Illinois for convening this important conversation and to every voter who showed up to listen, ask questions, and hold us accountable. I look forward to continuing this dialogue across the district as we work together to build a safer, healthier, and more just future."
